Overview
Peniche sits on Portugal’s west coast, about 90 minutes north of Lisbon. The peninsula and the sandbars of Baleal form a natural swell magnet with quick drive-arounds when wind or tide changes. Expect beach breaks most days, with a few punchy reefs and ramps on the right forecast.
Key Surf Spots

Supertubos
Portugal’s famous sand-bottom tube machine south of town. Works on mid-tide with solid W–SW swell and light E quadrant winds. Powerful and often shallow—advanced surfers only on bigger days.

Molhe Leste
Jetty-protected peaks offering wedgy rights and lefts. A go-to when Supertubos is too wild; still punchy with rip bowls and quick takeoffs.

Consolação
Rocky reef with long rights wrapping around the headland when the sand aligns. Best on mid to high tide; bring booties if you’re picky with feet.

Reefy setup off Baleal’s north side with a consistent left and occasional right. Handles a bit more wind than the beaches and offers longer rides.
