Mizata

Mizata Point is a powerful right-hand point break on El Salvador’s western coastline, offering fast drops, open faces and long, performance-oriented walls over a rock-and-boulder bottom. Situated at the mouth of the river in Mizata, the Point is the longest of the area’s waves and can produce rides approaching 200 meters when conditions align. Larger days can also deliver short barrel sections, making Mizata Point an excellent option for intermediate and advanced surfers looking for quality waves away from El Salvador’s busier surf centers.

One of Mizata Point’s greatest strengths is consistency. The exposed coastline picks up South Pacific swell exceptionally well and can continue producing waves when better-known breaks farther east are small. The Point performs best with south to south-southwest swell and light northerly offshore winds. Chest-high through well-overhead conditions are generally the sweet spot; once surf reaches roughly 8–10 feet, strong currents and the nearby cliff can make the Point considerably more difficult.
